Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Biology, or related field.
  • Preferably with good scholastic records and relevant experience in aquaculture, fisheries, seaweed culture, marine biology, fieldwork or laboratory work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain seaweed tissue cultures through microscopic observation at Tigbauan Main Station.
  • Conduct seaweed sampling at Tigbauan, Igang Marine Station and open-field sites.
  • Monitor water parameters at Tigbauan and IMS.
  • Coordinate between Japanese supervisor and SEAFDEC/AQD staff.
  • Prepare reports and encode data.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries, Biology, or other related courses


Preferably:

  • With good scholastic records
  • With relevant experience, training, or exposure in aquaculture, fisheries, seaweed culture, marine biology, fieldwork, or laboratory work is an advantage
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software and other computer-related applications
  • With excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • With a strong sense of initiative and analytical problem-solving ability
  • With a passion for research, good interpersonal relationship skills, and work ethics
  • Willing to learn, receptive to instruction and feedback, and open to guidance and supervision

Summary of duties to be performed:

The position is responsible for maintaining seaweed tissue cultures through microscopic observation at the Tigbauan Main Station (TMS); conducting seaweed sampling activities at TMS, Igang Marine Station (IMS), and open-field sites; monitoring water parameters at TMS and IMS; facilitating communication and coordination between Japanese supervisor and SEAFDEC/AQD staff; preparing reports and encoding data; performing other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
