Job summary

SYSTRA Philippines is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of plumbing and sanitary systems for rail and infrastructure projects, on-site in Pasig. You will conduct calculations, ensure standards compliance, coordinate with internal and external teams, review vendor submittals, and support construction through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering / Plumbing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered Master Plumber; Master’s degree and relevant recognition is an advantage.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a fire protection design engineer.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and related Plumbing and Sanitary system software.
• Solid understanding of Plumbing and Sanitary systems, fluid mechanics, and building services engineering.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; time management and organizational skills.
• Able to keep abreast with technology and engineering design trends.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and optimize Plumbing and Sanitary systems for commercial, industrial, infrastructures, and railway projects.
• Conduct demand calculation, pipe sizing, hydraulic calculation, piping & equipment layout, schematic diagram, QA/QC, and all other required fire protection design & calculations.
• Ensure design process, iterations, and test analytics are documented and saved in the SPI server/specific project drive.
• Ensure compliance with PNS, Philippine Plumbing Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, International Plumbing Code, ASHRAE standards, and relevant local regulations and international standards.
• Perform site surveys, existing facility assessments, and feasibility studies for renovation, rehabilitation, and new projects.
• Review vendor submittals, technical proposals, and test reports, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Provide construction/technical support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.
• Initiate sharing of industry best practices to guide junior engineers and designers.
• Collaborate and coordinate with internal & external project teams to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems into overall design.
• Performs other tasks as assigned from time to time upon receiving clear instructions from the MEPF Manager / Lead / Senior Engineer as required by SPI Projects.

Context

The position is responsible for the design, development, and execution of Plumbing and Sanitary systems, entails full-cycle engineering from conceptual design and calculation to project coordination, specification preparation, construction support, and commissioning. The position will also provide support related to fire protection system for sustainable railway and infrastructure efforts.

Missions/Main Duties

• Design, analyze, and optimize Plumbing and Sanitary systems for commercial, industrial, infrastructures, and railway projects.
• Conduct demand calculation, pipe sizing, hydraulic calculation, piping & equipment layout, schematic diagram, drawing mark-ups, QA/QC, select appropriate equipment for system efficiency and code compliance, and all other required fire protection design & calculations of the project.
• Ensure that the design process, iterations, and test analytics are documented and saved in the SPI server/specific project drive.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine National Standards (PNS), Philippine Pllumbing Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, International Plumbing Code, ASHRAE standards, and relevant local regulations and international standards.
• As necessary/required in the project:
• perform site surveys, existing facility assessments, and feasibility studies for renovation, rehabilitation, and new projects.
• review and recommend approval of vendor submittals, technical proposals, and test reports, ensuring quality and compliance.

Profile/Skills

• Proficient with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, & other related Plumbing and Sanitary system software. Knowledge in AutoCad & Revit is an advantage.
• Solidly understands the principles of Plumbing and Sanitary system, fluid mechanics, and building services engineering principles.
• Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles.
