Job summary

Arup is seeking a Climate Risk & Resilience Associate Principal to shape Southeast Asia's climate resilience strategy. Based in Manila, Jakarta or Bangkok, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, develop client portfolios, and drive growth across government, transport, energy, water and property sectors.

You will bring 15+ years of climate risk and adaptation planning experience, with strong leadership and commercial acumen to deliver complex projects and expand Arup's presence in APAC.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 15+ years of climate risk, resilience strategy and adaptation planning experience in Asia.
• Proven leadership across multi-country, multi-disciplinary projects with regional market insight.
• Strong commercial acumen with business development, proposal leadership and client management experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills for senior-level influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow Arup's Climate Adaptation and Resilience services in Southeast Asia, including business development and project delivery.
• Build client portfolios, shape bids, ensure strong pipelines and commercial outcomes.
• Advise clients and represent Arup in high-level meetings and international forums.
• Develop and mentor teams to expand Resilience & Adaptation services across SEA.

As Climate Risk & Resilience Associate Principal, you will shape the future of climate resilience across Southeast Asia by leading our Climate Risk, Adaptation and Resilience services. This strategic role combines visionary leadership, technical excellence and market insight to help clients across government, transport, energy, water, and property understand how climate change will impact their ability to deliver services.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated local experience across Southeast Asia, delivering similar work and with a strong understanding of regional markets and opportunities.

Ideally based in Manila, Jakarta or Bangkok (although we are interested to hear from candidates across Southeast Asia), you will have the opportunity to develop and grow our climate resilience and adaptation services to deliver meaningful impact across APAC.

You will bring deep expertise in climate risk, resilience strategies and adaptation planning. Just as importantly, you will inspire confidence with clients, shape opportunities and champion business development to deliver change at scale.

The Opportunity

• Lead and grow Arup's Climate Adaptation and Resilience services in Southeast Asia, including business development, project delivery, client relationships and team development.
• Build and manage a robust client portfolio to ensure a strong project pipeline, and help shape bids and proposals. Take responsibility for commercial outcomes and growth targets.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders, representing Arup in high-level meetings, partnerships and international forums.

Is this role right for you

• A Master's degree in a relevant field and 15+ years experience in climate risk assessment, resilience strategy and adaptation planning, particularly in Asia.
• Technical expertise in climate risk and adaptation strategies for infrastructure and/or urban planning.
• Proven leadership in managing complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-country projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development, proposal leadership, and client management.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels across diverse cultural contexts.
• Demonstrated experience in building and growing a team to grow the Resilience & Adaptation service across SEA.
• Experience in developing methodologies, frameworks, indices, or tools related to climate risk and resilience.
