Job summary

DatologyAI is hiring a Research Scientist to lead post-training data curation for foundation models. You will design and implement data strategies to generate and improve instruction-, preference-, and other post-training datasets, collaborating with engineers and product teams to drive tangible model improvements.

The role emphasizes autonomy, scientific judgment, and translating research into deployable solutions within our San Mateo-based office, four days a week.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of deep learning research experience.
• Experience with post-training large vision, language, and multimodal models.
• Post-training algorithm development and data curation.
• Synthetic data methods such as DPO/RLHF/RRHF or self-training.
• SFT/instruction tuning and demonstration fine-tuning.
• Post-training tooling development and engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of deep learning fundamentals and PyTorch.

Responsibilities

• Research post-training data curation for foundation models.
• Generate and refine preference and instruction-following data.
• Unify post-training and pre-training data curation.
• Translate research ideas into real-world impact and prototypes.
