Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Research Coordinator – Infectious Diseases to support NIH-funded studies in Boston, MA. The role involves participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, data collection and analysis, and ensuring ethical compliance with study protocols.

Position Summary

Position: Research Coordinator – Infectious Diseases, Boston, MA. 40 hours per week. The Research Coordinator (RC) will support NIH‑funded studies under the Massachusetts Community Engagement Alliance (MA‑CEAL) Program. Responsibilities include participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, data collection, analysis, ethical compliance, and collaboration with community partners.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate development of study protocols, informed consent forms (ICFs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative data collection tools and lead the design and validation of electronic data capture (EDC) systems such as REDCap.
  • Create data management plans and ensure secure data storage.
  • Develop training materials and support training of study teams, including research assistants.
  • Maintain ethics and regulatory compliance, including IRB submissions, amendments, and reportable events.
  • Provide logistical support for workshop sites and oversee launch and ongoing operations of studies.
  • Schedule and lead regular study team meetings, set agendas, and record minutes.
  • Support study team and community partners through regular meetings and protocol implementation support.
  • Report to investigators and program manager on progress and milestones.
  • Assist in creating datasets for analysis and perform descriptive and advanced analyses using statistical packages (e.g., R, SAS).
  • Coordinate recruitment of 100+ active study participants.
  • Facilitate focus group sessions, interviews, literature searches, qualitative coding, and data analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for scientific meetings and journals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master’s Degree in Public Health preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical research, public health, or related experience (3 years may be considered for candidates with a Master’s).
  • Experience with grant writing, IRB submissions, data management, and database development preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Experience with statistical software (R, SAS) and electronic data capture systems (REDCap).
  • Understanding of research components: data collection, human subjects protection, quality assurance and control.
  • Experience conducting interviews, coding, and analyzing qualitative data.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible to work evenings or weekends when required.
