Job summary

Hunt St is seeking a Philippines-based Bookkeeper to own day-to-day accounting, invoicing, payroll preparation, and reporting for a federally funded client. You will work with the internal operations lead and external tax team to ensure accurate financial records across multiple government programs.

The role requires 3+ years of bookkeeping experience with Australian clients, strong Xero proficiency, and deep knowledge of ATO rules.

Qualifications

• 3+ years bookkeeping experience supporting Australian businesses.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero — payroll, invoicing, reconciliations, reporting.
• Solid understanding of the Australian tax environment (ATO, BAS, PAYG, GST).
• Confident with chart of accounts, P&L and balance sheet interpretation.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong logical reasoning and the ability to pick up industry-specific invoicing rules.
• Comfortable working behind a VPN.

Responsibilities

• Raise and issue invoices across federal government programs and clients.
• Process up to 150 invoices weekly and ready for pay.
• Prepare client statements monthly.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable end-to-end, including reconciliations.
• Process payroll in Xero, bi-weekly sign-off by operations lead.
• Support BAS and PAYG preparation with operations lead.
• Maintain a clean chart of accounts and ensure source docs are ready for tax team.
• Generate regular P&L, balance sheet and management reports.
• Flag cost trends and suggest improvements to cash flow, margins and spend.
• Coordinate with CRM/timesheet system feeding payroll and invoicing.
• Provide general office accounts support.
