B. Home Co. is seeking a Remote Residential Estimator to build and own the estimating function as we grow.

You will develop project scopes, prepare estimates, manage budgets, and help create scalable estimating systems while leveraging AI tools to streamline tasks. This role emphasizes process improvement and independence within a remote team. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of residential remodeling estimating experience, strong reading of plans, and proficiency with JobTread.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of residential remodeling estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of American residential construction methods, materials, and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans and specs.
• Experience developing detailed estimates from concept through construction.
• Experience with JobTread is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed estimates for residential remodeling, renovation, and addition projects.
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and design documents to create complete project scopes.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Prepare and issue bid requests to subcontractors and suppliers.

About The Role

At B. Home Co., we're looking for a Remote Residential Estimator to help build and own our estimating function as we continue to grow.

This is an estimator‑first role with project coordination as a secondary responsibility. You'll work directly with leadership to develop project scopes, prepare accurate estimates, manage budgets throughout preconstruction, and help create the systems that support our long‑term growth.

What You’ll Do

Estimating & Preconstruction

• Develop detailed estimates for residential remodeling, renovation, and addition projects
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and design documents to create complete project scopes
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
• Prepare and issue bid requests to subcontractors and suppliers
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Create purchase orders and maintain purchasing documentation
• Process and price change orders throughout the project lifecycle
• Maintain and update project budgets as designs evolve
• Identify scope gaps, missing information, and potential cost risks before construction begins
• Support weekly budget reviews with homeowners and the internal team

Project Coordination Support

• Assist with preconstruction coordination as projects move from design into production
• Help organize project documentation, specifications, selections, and schedules
• Support communication between estimating, design, and production teams
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation
• Assist with administrative and coordination tasks that keep projects moving efficiently

Systems & Process Improvement

• Help build and document B. Home Co.'s estimating systems and workflows
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and accuracy
• Leverage AI tools to streamline repetitive tasks and improve productivity
• Become the company's subject matter expert for JobTread estimating workflows
• Maintain organized estimating databases and historical pricing information

What We’re Looking For

• At least 2 years of residential remodeling estimating experience preferred
• Strong understanding of American residential construction methods, materials, and terminology
• Ability to independently read and interpret residential construction plans and specifications
• Experience developing detailed project estimates from concept through construction
• Advanced proficiency with JobTread is highly preferred
• Professional experience using AI tools such as Claude and Cowork to improve productivity and workflows
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting deadlines
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with leadership
• Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Buildertrend, or similar estimating software is a plus
• Background in Architecture or Civil Engineering is a strong advantage
• Experience supporting U.S.-based residential remodeling companies is highly preferred
