Job summary

Hunt St Pty Ltd is seeking a Part-Time Financial Controller based in the Philippines for an independent contractor engagement. You will own the finance function, implement Xero, and provide strategic financial guidance to the client’s executive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA, CA or equivalent qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as Financial Controller for an Australian business.
• Experience implementing Xero and establishing accounting systems from the ground up.
• Strong English communication and financial modelling capability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial management and reporting.
• Prepare monthly management reports and financial statements.
• Provide strategic financial advice to support growth and decision-making.
• Lead the Xero implementation and design accounting processes and controls.
• Oversee payroll, compliance, and financial governance across the organisation.
• Improve finance systems, workflows, and internal processes for scalability.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Monitor performance and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulations.
• Review reconciliations, GL accuracy, and month-end close processes.
• Develop robust financial controls and governance frameworks.
• Support external accountants, auditors, and regulatory reporting.
• Analyse business performance and profitability trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and reporting.
• Support business planning, financial modelling and decision-making.
• Mentor finance staff where required.
