Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Solid Waste Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves sorting, recycling, collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain country-specific visas and pass medical and security requirements for deployment to BIOT.

Qualifications

1–3 years of experience in solid waste operations or waste management
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience safely operating waste management equipment as listed in SWMC O&M manual
Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards for waste handling, processing and disposal
Strong English communication (written and oral)

Responsibilities

Operate waste management equipment per SWMC O&M manual
Inspect and maintain solid waste equipment and vehicles
Safely operate heavy equipment like loaders, balers, excavators
Adhere to environmental and waste handling regulations
Maintain records of waste collected, transported, and disposed
Support hazardous materials handling and compliance documentation
Report misuse or maintenance issues at waste sites
Perform site cleanup and recycling preparation
