Job summary

Outsourcing Advantage is seeking an experienced Ingredient Sourcing Specialist to join our remote team and support food product development, R&D, and commercial production for a US-based client.

The role focuses on identifying and sourcing food ingredients, dairy components, additives, stabilizers, packaging materials, and other raw materials from qualified suppliers worldwide, with strong vendor negotiation and supplier relationship skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, preferably within the food industry.
• Experience sourcing food ingredients, raw materials, or specialty food components.
• Strong online research and supplier sourcing skills.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor communication abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills (CEFR C1 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Source food ingredients, raw materials, and specialty components for product development and commercial production.
• Research and identify ingredient manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers worldwide.
• Obtain pricing, lead times, MOQs, ingredient specifications, COAs, and technical documentation.
• Source dairy ingredients, sweeteners, starches, gums, flavorings, fruit preparations, and other functional ingredients.
• Coordinate ingredient sample requests for R&D and product testing.
• Compare suppliers based on quality, certifications, pricing, and availability.
• Assist with ingredient substitutions and alternative sourcing solutions.
• Maintain supplier databases and sourcing records.
• Support procurement of packaging materials and related product components.
• Build and maintain relationships with ingredient manufacturers, distributors, and brokers.
• Monitor ingredient availability, market trends, and pricing.
