Job summary

Mercor is seeking an AI evaluation Software Engineer to triage and investigate bug reports across our AI + SaaS stack, ensuring smooth talent experiences on our platform. You’ll collaborate with engineering to reproduce issues, refine prompts, and guide users with precise, empathetic communication.

You’ll join a fast-growing team enabling scalable AI-powered workflows, with a remote six-day workweek and overlapping Pacific Time hours. Prior AI tooling experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience building modern web apps (React, Node, Flask, Next.js) or 2–5 years supporting customers on such apps
• Comfortable with AI systems and LLMs/agents
• Experience exploring AI tools (fine-tuning, prompts, chain-of-thought)
• Understanding AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) or agent frameworks is a plus
• Ability to debug web applications and SaaS stacks

Responsibilities

• Investigate talent-reported issues end-to-end: reproduce bugs and identify root causes
• Debug across AI + SaaS stack using telemetry, logs, and DB queries
• Triage with sound judgment and escalate true engineering issues
• Provide guidance via configuration or prompts to resolve issues
• Surface patterns and risks to engineering/product leadership
• Create documentation and runbooks to reduce repeats
• Communicate with precision, professionalism, and empathy
