This Regulatory and Privacy Manager supports the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in overseeing compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies across MP, MCBL, and MFP. It provides privacy and regulatory compliance oversight to ensure adherence to Philippine laws and regulations, as well as Manulife's global standards and governance requirements. The role helps protect Manulife's reputation and maintain a strong compliance culture by ensuring the timely identification, assessment, resolution, and documentation of regulatory and compliance issues, while supporting the implementation of effective compliance and privacy risk management programs.
Position Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Regulatory Compliance Management Program in line with established policies, procedures, and guidance from the CCO.
- Track and summarize newly issued laws, regulations, and regulatory issuances,. and escalate relevant updates to the CCO or designated compliance lead for assessment and direction.
- Assist in monitoring and assessing the Company's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Support compliance risk assessments and monitor the implementation of remediation and mitigation plans.
- Assist in facilitating gap assessments and coordinating with business units to document findings and keep track of implement action plans to address identified compliance gaps.
- Track and monitor the timely completion of corrective action plans and remediation activitiesand escalated overdue or high-risk items to the CCO or designated compliance lead.
- Coordinate Compliance Coordinator Program activities, including the monitoring of quarterly compliance attestations and certifications.
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of compliance systems and databases, including Archer and the Regulatory Reporting System.
- Support the identification, tracking, escalation, and reporting of compliance issues and regulatory developments for Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) review.
- Prepare and coordinate regulatory reports, submissions, and disclosures for review and approval by the CCO.
- Ensure the accurate and timely submission of monthly reports to the Credit Information Corporation (CIC).
- Assist in maintaining adequate documentation and records to support compliance monitoring, reporting, and regulatory examinations.
- Assist in the preparation of management and board-level compliance reports, dashboards, and presentations as required.
- Support investigation documentation, monitoring and escalation of privacy incidents.
- Support privacy monitoring and compliance testing activities to measure effectiveness of operational controls that can prevent regulatory breaches.
- Support implementation of the Privacy Program requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of privacy reporting materials.
- Assist in the renewal of company DPO and registration of data processing systems with the privacy regulator.
- Support privacy risk assessment activities by coordinating information requests, consolidating responses, and maintaining assessment records.
- Support privacy training programs to educate and promote privacy policy awareness amongst employees and distribution partners.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree: a law degree will be preferred.
- Min. 5 to 7 years of working experience in compliance function within the financial industry.
- Must have a strong knowledge of local Insurance laws and regulations.
- Certified in insurance award is a plus (ex: LOMA) Good interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders and as a team.
- Able to work under pressure with good Compliance judgement skill.
- Possesses analytical, interpersonal, leadership and negotiation skills.
