Job summary

PM Consulting is seeking a Rebar Estimator to prepare accurate cost and quantity estimates for reinforcement steel projects. The role collaborates with design, detailing, manufacturing, and logistics teams to develop technically sound quotations aligned with project requirements and standards.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years in rebar estimating, strong numeric skills, and familiarity with CADS RC, Tekla Structures, or Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying preferred.
• 3-5 years in rebar estimating, reinforcement detailing, or structural steel estimation.
• Familiarity with rebar detailing/estimating software (CADS RC, Tekla Structures, Bluebeam) desired.

Role Overview

The Rebar Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost and quantity estimates for reinforcement steel projects. The role works closely with design, detailing, manufacturing, and logistics teams to develop technically sound quotations that meet project requirements, commercial expectations, and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

Estimation & Tender Preparation

• Review structural drawings, project specifications, and reinforcement requirements to determine accurate quantities.
• Calculate reinforcement quantities, weights, cutting and bending requirements, as well as related fabrication and delivery costs.
• Prepare and submit quotations and tender documents within required timelines.
• Review project scope, technical requirements, and commercial considerations to ensure complete and accurate bids.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, tender submissions, pricing, and related correspondence.

Costing & Value Engineering

• Evaluate project requirements and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and manufacturability.
• Support the development and maintenance of cost databases and standard pricing references.
• Contribute to market and pricing analysis to support competitive tendering.
• Assist with forecasting and pipeline reporting.

Technical & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with design and detailing teams to clarify drawings, bar schedules, specifications, and client requirements.
• Review bar bending schedules (BBS) to verify quantities, accuracy, and compliance.
• Work with manufacturing and logistics teams to ensure estimates are aligned with production capacity and delivery requirements.
• Coordinate internally on technical questions, project scope, and commercial matters.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and in accordance with applicable project requirements and industry standards.
• Follow relevant reinforcement and structural codes, including applicable CARES, Eurocodes, BS, and IS requirements.
• Maintain compliance with internal quality, ISO, governance, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in rebar estimating, reinforcement detailing, or structural steel estimation.
• Familiarity with rebar detailing or estimating software such as CADS RC, Tekla Structures, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of reinforcement manufacturing and cut-and-bend operations is an advantage.
• Background in construction or precast concrete is beneficial.
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings and bar bending schedules.
• Proficient in rebar estimating tools and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Able to manage multiple tenders and deliver work within tight deadlines.
• Collaborative approach when working with design, manufacturing, logistics, and other teams.
