Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking an automotive drivetrain engineer to evaluate and design rear-wheel drive solutions for vehicles. The role involves analyzing feasibility, creating concept layouts, and supporting the transition from FWD to RWD where appropriate.

You will collaborate with chassis, suspension, and battery teams, develop 3D models of rear axles and drive components, and prepare comparative reports outlining pros and cons of RWD versus FWD.

Responsibilities

• Assess the feasibility of switching to rear-wheel drive within the current design or determine if a complete redesign is required.
• Design rear axles and verify transmission angles to avoid durability issues.
• Coordinate with chassis, suspension, and battery teams to ensure changes do not affect other systems.
• Recommend whether the current design can be adapted or if a new one is required.
• Create 3D models of rear axles and drive components.
• Prepare reports comparing options, e.g., rear-wheel drive vs. front-wheel drive: pros and cons.
• Document risks and assumptions, e.g., potential limitations of using a specific axle.
