Job Description
A Real Estate Appraiser is responsible for determining the market value of residential, commercial, or industrial properties. They analyze property characteristics, market trends, and other factors to provide accurate appraisals used for transactions, financing, tax assessments, or legal purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect properties to evaluate features, condition, and overall value.
- Research and analyze comparable sales, leases, and market data.
- Prepare detailed appraisal reports in compliance with industry standards.
- Use software and tools to assess property value, such as cost, income, and market comparison approaches.
- Stay updated on real estate market trends, zoning laws, and building codes.
- Communicate findings to clients, lenders, or legal representatives clearly and professionally.
- State certification or licensure as a Real Estate Appraiser (required).
- Proven experience in real estate appraisal or related fields.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Familiarity with appraisal tools and software (e.g., MLS, Argus, or CoStar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, or a related field (preferred).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of local real estate markets.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Membership in professional organizations (e.g., Appraisal Institute) is a plus.
