Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the QMS.
  • Oversee quality control across production, from incoming materials to final inspection.
  • Lead CAPA investigations and ensure effectiveness.
  • Lead internal quality audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Establish quality objectives and KPIs for the department.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on material quality and corrective actions.

Job description

The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) and quality standards. The role ensures that products and production processes consistently meet customer requirements, company standards, and applicable industry and regulatory requirements.

The Quality Manager oversees quality activities throughout the entire production process, from incoming materials and prepress through printing, finishing, and final inspection. The role works closely with Production, Prepress, Engineering, Product Development & Improvement, Sales/Account Management, and other cross-functional teams to identify quality issues, implement effective corrective actions, reduce defects and rework, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the organization’s Quality Management System.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards, procedures, inspection criteria, and quality control plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality policies, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Regularly review and improve quality procedures to enhance operational efficiency, consistency, and product quality.
2. Quality Control & Assurance
  • Oversee quality control activities across prepress, printing, finishing, and final inspection.
  • Establish appropriate inspection and testing methods for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Analyze quality performance indicators, including defects, rejects, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
3. Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action
  • Lead investigations into product defects, production quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure identified issues are properly resolved and closed.
  • Collaborate with Production and other relevant departments to prevent the recurrence of quality issues.
4. Process & Product Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, production processes, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development & Improvement team on product trials, testing, and implementation.
  • Support process validation and the evaluation of new materials, equipment, and production methods.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, waste, and rework.
  • Work closely with Sales and Account Management in addressing customer quality concerns and technical requirements.
  • Review customer complaints and ensure timely investigation, corrective action, and resolution.
  • Establish quality requirements for suppliers and monitor the quality of incoming materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding material defects, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
6. Audit & Compliance
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee internal quality audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Prepare the organization for customer, supplier, and third-party quality audits.
  • Ensure proper documentation, control, and traceability of quality records.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Quality team to achieve departmental objectives and performance standards.
  • Establish quality objectives, key performance indicators, and performance targets for the department.
  • Conduct regular reviews of quality performance and provide management with findings, insights, and improvement recommendations.
  • Promote a strong quality culture, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset across the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Management, preferably with 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Experience in printing, packaging, publishing, or graphic arts manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of printing and manufacturing processes, quality control, inspection, and defect prevention.
  • Proven experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS), internal audits, CAPA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management standards is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
