Job summary

The Magnum Ice Cream Company is seeking a QA Laboratory Analyst to oversee daily laboratory operations and perform physico-chemical analyses to support raw material evaluation, R&D activities, process control, and QA of imported goods, semi-finished products, local finished goods, water, and wastewater.

You will set testing priorities, ensure resource readiness, and coach analysts to deliver accurate results while ensuring compliance with GLP, ISO standards, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; licensed.
  • Experience in physico-chemical analysis techniques in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of GLP, ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental waste handling.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thinks end-to-end and takes ownership for results.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving organisation.
  • Values collaboration, clarity and low-ego ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Physico-Chemical Testing & Quality Evaluation: Conduct analyses of raw materials, R&D materials, imported goods, FP, water, and wastewater; ensure GLP adherence.
  • Material and Chemical Inventory Management: Maintain up-to-date inventory of chemicals, reagents, standards, consumables, and laboratory materials.
  • Purchasing and Procurement Coordination: Prepare purchase requests for laboratory consumables, media, reagents, and equipment.
  • Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Facilitate periodic calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance; monitor performance.
  • SOP / Work Instruction Management: Review, update and create SOPs and WIs for tests and processes.
  • Chemical Waste Management: Manage segregation, labeling and disposal of chemical waste per regulations and policy.

The role

The QA Laboratory Analyst oversees day-to-day laboratory operations and physico-chemical analyses to support raw material evaluation, R&D activities, process control, and quality assurance of imported goods, semi-finished products, local FGs, water, and wastewater. The role sets testing priorities, ensures resource readiness (people, equipment, reagents, and documentation), and coaches Analysts to deliver timely, accurate results. The position ensures compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) through robust governance, complete documentation, and continuous improvement of laboratory systems and processes.

What you'll be responsible for

1. Physico-Chemical Testing & Quality Evaluation

Conduct physicochemical analyses of raw materials, R&D materials, imported goods, semi-finished products, FP, water, and wastewater following established methods and specifications.

Ensure accuracy, reliability, and repeatability of results by adhering to GLP.

2. Material and Chemical Inventory Management

Maintain up-to-date inventory of chemicals, reagents, standards, consumables, and laboratory materials.

3. Purchasing and Procurement Coordination

Prepare purchase requests for laboratory consumables, microbiological media, reagents, and equipment supplies.

4. Equipment Calibration & Maintenance

Facilitate periodic equipment calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance according to schedules.

Monitor equipment performance and initiate maintenance requests when abnormalities are detected.

5. SOP / Work Instruction Management

Review, update, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) for laboratory tests and processes.

6. Chemical Waste Management

Manage segregation, labeling, and temporary storage of chemical waste.

Coordinate disposal activities in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

  • Has Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; licensed
  • Has experience in physico-chemical analysis techniques and can operate confidently in a food manufacturing environment
  • Has knowledge of GLP, ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental waste handling
