Job Summary

The Passive Site Services (PSS) Technician is responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom cell site passive infrastructure to ensure continuous site availability and compliance with SLA requirements. The role covers power systems, batteries, generators, fuel management, and basic civil and electrical works across assigned sites.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and on‑call corrective maintenance (CM) activities in line with SLA and MTTR targets
• Inspect and maintain AC/DC power systems, rectifiers, distribution boards, alarms, and surge protection devices
• Conduct routine inspections and discharge testing of VRLA and Lithium‑ion batteries
• Maintain solar and hybrid power systems where applicable

Generator & Fuel Management

• Carry out routine generator servicing, operational checks, and oil changes
• Monitor generator output, alarms, starter batteries, and auto changeover systems
• Measure fuel levels during site visits, conduct refuelling, and report any fuel leaks or irregularities
• Support annual fuel tank cleaning and audits

Earthing, Tower & Structural Checks

• Inspect earthing and bonding systems and measure earth resistance (≤ 5 ohms)
• Perform non‑climb visual inspections of telecom towers and site structures and report abnormalities

CME Works (As Required)

• Execute approved civil, mechanical, and electrical works such as fencing, plinth repairs, shelter maintenance, and minor site upgrades

Documentation & Compliance

• Capture geotagged site photos with Site ID, date/time, and GPS coordinates
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fuel records, and test reports
• Ensure strict compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of telecom cell site passive infrastructure
• Hands‑on experience with power systems, generators, batteries, and rectifiers
• Ability to troubleshoot site alarms and power‑related issues
• Capable of working independently in remote and field‑based environments

Preferred Experience

• Telecom tower or cell site operations
• Exposure to solar or hybrid power solutions
• Experience working under SLA‑driven environments

Working Conditions

• Field‑based role with frequent travel to multiple cell sites
• On‑call availability for emergency and corrective maintenance
