Position Title: Person-in-Charge (PIC)
Department: Project / Site
Position Summary
The Person-in-Charge (PIC) in Construction is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is executed according to plans, safety standards, and project timelines. The PIC supervises workers, coordinates with subcontractors, monitors progress, and acts as the primary contact during the shift to support smooth and safe site operations.
1. Site Supervision
- Oversee daily work activities and ensure tasks are executed according to plans and specifications.
- Assign tasks to workers and monitor their performance and productivity.
- Coordinate with project engineers, foremen, and subcontractors regarding work schedules and progress.
- Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available and used properly.
2. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety rules and ensure workers comply with company policies and government regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and implementation of safety protocols.
- Report incidents, accidents, and near-misses to the Safety Officer or Project Manager.
3. Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship and ensure construction activities meet quality standards.
- Assist in checking materials delivered on-site to ensure they match specifications.
- Identify and report any defects, deviations, or issues to the project engineer.
4. Coordination & Communication
- Act as the point-of-contact for site-related concerns during the shift.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and site personnel for smooth workflow.
- Communicate work updates, issues, and recommendations to supervisors or the Project Manager.
- Attend toolbox meetings and relay important instructions to workers.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain site logs, daily accomplishment reports, timesheets, and attendance of workers.
- Document incidents, delays, delivery issues, and other site concerns.
- Assist in preparing progress updates and reports as required by management.
