The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of printing press equipment to produce high-quality printed materials according to specifications. This includes setup, operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of assigned presses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup and Operation: Set up and operate assigned printing presses
- Quality Control: Monitor the printing process to ensure consistent quality, identifying and correcting any defects or inconsistencies. Conduct regular quality checks throughout the run.
- Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor.
- Material Handling: Safely load and unload paper, ink, and other printing materials.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions, following established procedures. Report more significant problems to the supervisor.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production, including job numbers, quantities printed, and any quality issues encountered.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience operating printing press equipment (specify type if applicable, e.g., sheetfed, web press) is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and understand job tickets and other production documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific printing press models (list models if applicable).
- Knowledge of pre-press and post-press processes.
- Experience with color management and quality control systems.
