Job summary

Bureau Veritas Philippines is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to act as the technical authority for renewable energy and power system projects. You will lead design reviews, owner's engineering, due diligence, construction monitoring, testing and commissioning for utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, BESS, substations, and transmission lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• PEE license is mandatory and PRC license is required.
• 15–20 years of professional experience in utility-scale renewables and power infrastructure.
• Experience with EPC, project supervision, testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Bureau Veritas' SME for renewable energy and power system projects.
• Lead technical reviews and approvals of electrical engineering designs for utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, substations, and transmission systems.
• Provide technical guidance to project managers, engineers, inspectors, and renewable energy consultants.
• Establish engineering standards, procedures, and best practices across all projects.
• Support business development through technical proposals, client presentations, and project pursuits.
• Review and validate electrical designs, calculations, studies, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Provide technical support throughout engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Lead technical advisory and owner's engineering assignments.
• Lead commissioning programs for GIS and AIS Substations, Transmission Lines, Solar PV Power Plants, Wind Farms, and BESS Facilities.
• Ensure project compliance with Philippine Grid Code, Philippine Distribution Code, NGCP Grid Connection Requirements, ERC Regulations, and DOE Renewable Energy Policies.

About the role

The Principal Electrical Engineer serves as the technical authority for renewable energy projects and power system infrastructure services within Bureau Veritas Philippines. The role is responsible for leading engineering design reviews, owner's engineering, independent engineering, technical due diligence, project supervision, construction monitoring, testing and commissioning, and grid interconnection studies for utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), substations, and transmission line projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Bureau Veritas' Subject Matter Expert (SME) for renewable energy and power system projects

• Lead technical reviews and approvals of electrical engineering designs for utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, substations, and transmission systems

• Provide technical guidance to project managers, engineers, inspectors, and renewable energy consultants

• Establish engineering standards, procedures, and best practices across all projects

• Support business development through technical proposals, client presentations, and project pursuits

About you

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

• Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) License - Mandatory

• PRC Licensed Electrical Engineer

• Minimum 15 to 20 years of professional experience

• Minimum 10 years in utility-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects

• Extensive experience in Electrical Design Engineering, Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), Project Management, Project Supervision, Facility Management, and Testing and Commissioning

• Proven involvement in Utility-Scale Solar Projects, Wind Farm Projects, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Transmission Substations, Transmission Lines, and Distribution Systems

• Experience working on both local and international projects

• Strong working knowledge of Philippine Electrical Code Part 1 & 2, Philippine Grid Code, Philippine Distribution Code, NGCP Grid Connection Requirements, IEEE Standards, ANSI Standards, IEC Standards, NFPA Standards, NESC Standards, NETA Standards, British Standards (BS), and International Electrotechnical Standards
