Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in the Philippines seeks an experienced Principal Test Engineering lead to direct Sustaining and Enhancement Test Engineering, guiding a team of test engineers across analog, power, and mixed-signal products.

The role is hands-on leadership, requiring deep ATE expertise, platform-agnostic, and the ability to ramp on new systems while building a high-performing team and delivering quality and yield improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of semiconductor test engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of people management or team leadership experience within a Test Engineering or Product Engineering environment.
• Strong platform-agnostic expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) engineering.
• Hands-on experience with J750, SPEA, and Eagle testers is preferred.
• Proven experience in production sustaining, yield improvement, failure analysis, and ECO management.
• Advanced statistical and data analysis skills, including MSA, GRR, ANOVA, and applying statistics for yield/quality improvement.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and automation-driven practices; scripting/data tools/AI solutions are a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; experience collaborating with distributed teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Test Engineers at the Philippines site.
• Set team objectives aligned with business goals and KPIs.
• Coordinate workload distribution and resource planning across sustaining projects.
• Identify training needs and drive skill development.
• Stay engaged in technical work to maintain credibility and deliverables.
• Perform sustaining activities: test program maintenance, debug, and optimization across multiple ATE platforms.
• Drive test program enhancements to improve yield, throughput, coverage, and time.
• Review/approve engineering changes impacting test flows and programs.
• Resolve test escapes, production failures, and quality issues with cross-functional teams.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions with Product Eng. and Quality teams.
• Lead/enhance projects to expand test coverage and reduce escapes.
• Serve as primary test engineering liaison with Test Ops, Product Eng., Quality, and Manufacturing.
• Champion best practices, workflows, and automation initiatives; track key metrics.
