The nurse will participate in ward rounds, assist with admissions and discharges, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with senior staff to manage risk and ensure quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Performs job functions consistent with the Institution’s mission and vision statements and witnesses the BHSMC core values in the discharge of his functions.
• Acts as a primary Nurse to allocated patient(s) under the supervision and support of a Head Nurse or above, plans, implements and evaluates patient programs of care, focusing particularly on risk assessment and risk management.
• Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
• Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Ensures the maintenance of high standards in all ward procedures and treatments including the storage, custody and safe administration of medicines.
• Reports to a senior staff nurse or above, any circumstances which may compromise the effective delivery of care, safety or day to day management of an area.
• Maintains accurate, detailed reports and patient records. Assists in ensuring that all clinical documentation/procedures comply with all applicable legislative and statutory requirements.
• Attends and takes part in ward rounds and other multi- disciplinary meetings.
• Assists in the procedures for admission and discharge of patients.
• Assists in ensuring that the requirements of the care program approach are met.
• Participates in the Orientation of new employees.
• Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane or related to and/or implied from the above enumeration of duties.
