Job Summary
KDCI Outsourcing is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to provide technical and consulting support for electrical engineering projects, primarily across generation, high-voltage transmission, distribution, and grid connection projects. The role involves performing power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim, developing engineering solutions, supporting project delivery, and ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Engineering & Power System Studies
- Perform and direct power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim modelling environments.
- Manage the enquiry, application, registration, and/or design phases for large energy user and renewable energy projects, including HV grid connections, substation design, and generating plant power systems.
- Undertake site inspections, provide technical advice, and prepare engineering reports.
- Assist with planning and scheduling tasks and activities within the Electrical Engineering Team.
- Develop cost-effective engineering solutions that meet project and technical requirements.
- Provide engineering and technical advice to the engineering team and other project personnel involved in the execution of works.
- Review designs to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Apply Quality Management System (QMS) requirements to work processes and identify and report opportunities for improvement.
Consulting & Business Development
- Undertake billable consulting work within Electrical Engineering, including projects involving generation, high-voltage transmission, and distribution.
- Support management in developing team capabilities across owner- and developer-side work for generation, high-voltage transmission, and distribution projects.
- Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture and provide guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and technical personnel.
- Support management in pursuing new project opportunities, including preparing tender submissions and proposals with other team members as required.
- Support business development activities by contributing technical expertise to new project opportunities and prospective client engagements.
Team Support & Engagement
- Provide high-level technical support to teams, primarily in generation, high-voltage transmission, distribution, and related areas.
- Participate in team activities and attend staff meetings as scheduled.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, friendly, and effective work environment.
- Provide regular and timely feedback on work activities to relevant team members.

- Undertake professional development toward achieving Chartered Engineer status.
- Complete training required to perform assigned responsibilities and support the continued growth of the Electrical Engineering Team.

Job Requirements
Must Have
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electrical engineering industry.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim in RMS and EMT modelling environments.
- Familiarity with engineering codes, regulations, industry best practices, and performance standards.
- Understanding of relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical and technical problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop cost‑effective engineering solutions.
- Strong written communication skills with high attention to detail, particularly when preparing technical documentation and reports.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and project stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Industry experience in generation, high-voltage transmission, distribution, or related electrical engineering environments is an advantage.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is an advantage.
