Job summary

AboitizPower is seeking an Engine Room Operator for the Therma Marine Inc. unit in Cebu City.

The role ensures efficient operation of diesel engines and auxiliary machinery, coordinating with the Control Room Engineer and Maintenance teams to meet safety and performance targets. The successful candidate will perform startup/shutdown sequences, inspections, laboratory tests, and technical support for plant reliability while adhering to ISO standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–2 years O&M experience in a related industry is an advantage.
• Licensed Electrical or Mechanical Engineer (Professional Engineer or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, check, start up, monitor, and shut down diesel engines and auxiliary equipment in coordination with the Control Room Engineer.
• Conduct routine inspections, adjustments, and top-ups per OEM manuals; stop engines for safety when required and issue PTW.
• Perform or coordinate laboratory testing of engine lube oil, process water, sludge, and fuel properties; encode results and track trends.
• Execute shift turnover, report plant abnormalities, participate in emergency response and ISO management activities.
