Job summary

onsemi seeks a skilled engineering technician to support the applications engineering team in a power electronics laboratory. You will develop test assemblies, test and calibrate bench setups, and work with high-precision instrumentation to evaluate onsemi parts for real-world automotive applications.

You will also help with hardware calibration, housekeeping, stock management, safety procedures, and ISO compliance, while gaining experience in 3D CAD modeling and teststand control software.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in an electronics or electro-mechanical laboratory environment.
  • Ability to translate schematics, block diagrams and verbal descriptions into functioning hardware.
  • Proficient with typical electronics lab equipment (oscilloscopes, LCR meters, waveform generators, probes, high/low power supplies, soldering, PCB troubleshooting).
  • Experience with common workshop tools (drill press, band saw, benchtop milling).
  • Familiarity with LabView or similar graphical programming environments and digital controllers (NI CompactRIO) preferred.
  • Familiarity with switching power electronics, heat transfer, cooling of test setups, and data manipulation in Excel/ Matlab.
  • Experience with PCB design or circuit simulation (Spice/Simetrix) is a plus.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support new hardware buyoff, validation and data collection.
  • Assist with troubleshooting setup issues during NPD process.
  • Assist with PR/PO issuance for new hardware purchases.
  • Support data and report compilation.
