Outdesk. seeks an experienced Plumbing Estimator to lead quantity take-offs, tender submissions, and cost estimates for Australian projects. You will use Simpro and Groundplan to manage job logging, initial quotes, and material costs, while interpreting hydraulic plans and coordinating with suppliers.

Remote from the Philippines, you will support pre-construction with accurate cost breakdowns, risk analysis, and value engineering to win profitable bids under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven Plumbing Estimator background for Australian plumbing/civil/hydraulic contractors.
• Proficiency with Simpro software is mandatory.
• Experience with Groundplan for quantity take-offs and integration with Simpro.
• Extensive experience in hydraulic, drainage, water, gas, and stormwater plans.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed, competitive plumbing estimates and tender submissions for multiple project types.
• Manage job logging, initial quote setups, and material costing in Simpro workflows.
• Perform accurate quantity take-offs and material measurements using Groundplan.
• Calculate project costs including pipework, fittings, labour hours, and subcontractor fees.
• Review hydraulic plans, drawings, specs to identify site requirements and risks.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Prepare RFIs, exclusions, and assumptions for tender submissions.
• Support pre-construction with budget breakdowns and value engineering options.

Job Brief

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Estimator with specialised expertise in Simpro and Groundplan to lead accurate quantity take-offs, tender preparation, and cost estimates across commercial, industrial, and residential plumbing operations.

This vital role ensures that project bids are prepared with exceptional speed, precision, and commercial viability. By interpreting detailed hydraulic plans, estimating material and labour costs, and managing job setups, the successful remote professional will support the pre‑construction team in winning profitable projects and expanding business operations.

Responsibilities

• Tender Preparation

• Prepare detailed, competitive, and accurate plumbing estimates and tender submissions for commercial, maintenance, and civil hydraulic projects.

• Simpro System Management

• Manage job logging, initial quote setups, and material costing workflows using Simpro software.

• Quantity Take-Offs

• Perform accurate quantity take-offs and material measurements using Groundplan from hydraulic, drainage, gas, and civil architectural plans.

• Cost Estimation

• Calculate comprehensive project costs, including pipework, fittings, fixtures, specialised equipment, labour hours, and subcontractor fees.

• Plan Interpretation

• Review and analyse hydraulic plans, technical engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify specific site requirements, potential issues, and project risks.

• Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination

• Liaise with material suppliers and external subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for specialised fittings and equipment.

• Scope Clarifications

• Identify project anomalies, prepare requests for information (RFIs), and establish clear exclusions and assumptions for each tender submission.

• Pre-Construction Support

• Assist project managers and executive leaders with budget breakdowns, value engineering options, and handover documentation upon contract award.

Requirements

• Proven background as a Plumbing Estimator or Cost Estimator supporting Australian plumbing, civil, or hydraulic contracting companies.

• Mandatory hands-on proficiency with Simpro job management software.

• Essential hands-on experience using Groundplan for quantity take-offs, with an understanding of its integration into Simpro workflows.

• Extensive experience measuring and taking off hydraulic, drainage, hot and cold water, gas, and stormwater plans.

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scope documents.

• Strong understanding of Australian Plumbing Codes, National Construction Code (NCC) standards, and local trade practices.

• Exceptional numerical accuracy, analytical capability, and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to collaborate effectively with remote management and project teams.

• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously, and meet strict deadline targets.
