Job summary

PM Consulting seeks an Automation Supervisor in Cabuyao City, Laguna, to lead plant automation, control, electronics and instrumentation maintenance. You will supervise PLC/SCADA/HMI/VFD programming, calibration, and preventive maintenance while driving process efficiencies and coordinating across Production, Engineering, Maintenance, QA, and IT.

The role requires 2+ years in automation with supervisory experience, a relevant engineering degree, and willingness to rotate 6 days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Professional engineering license is an advantage.
• At least two years in PLC programming, industrial automation, instrumentation, and calibration.
• Preferably three years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong working knowledge of PLC programming, particularly Siemens PLC systems, HMI, SCADA, VFDs, and process control.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and optimization.
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and FSMS/FSSC is an advantage.
• Instrumentation and calibration certifications are preferred.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Willingness to work on rotating shifts, including 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM, six days per week with overtime.

Responsibilities

• Automation Systems Management: supervise programming, troubleshooting, debugging, configuration, testing, repair and maintenance of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, and instrumentation.
• Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: keep automation and control systems in good condition via preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
• PLC Programming and System Documentation: backups and version control for PLC programs, HMI apps, SCADA configurations.
• Instrumentation and Calibration: calibrate instrumentation and measuring equipment per procedures.
• Automation and Process Improvement: lead projects from planning to commissioning and monitoring.
• Operational Efficiency: reduce manual intervention, minimize downtime, improve control and productivity.
• Maintenance Records and Reporting: document maintenance, calibration, breakdowns and data.
• Inventory and Spare Parts Management: maintain stock of automation equipment and critical parts.
• Team Supervision and Development: assign tasks, schedule work, coach, and train team members.
• Cross-functional Coordination: work with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, QA, IT to support objectives.
• Quality, Safety, and Compliance: ensure GMP, ISO, safety standards, procedures, and work instructions.

The Automation Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and efficiency of plant automation, control, electronics, and instrumentation systems. This role oversees the maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, calibration, and optimization of industrial automation equipment while leading initiatives to improve process efficiency, minimize equipment downtime, and enhance operational performance.

The position provides technical and supervisory leadership to the automation team and collaborates with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other relevant departments to implement automation solutions, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous Automation improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Automation Systems Management: Supervise and perform the programming, troubleshooting, debugging, configuration, testing, repair, and maintenance of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, industrial electronics, and instrumentation equipment.
• Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Ensure automation and control systems remain in good working condition through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, system updates, and effective troubleshooting practices.
• PLC Programming and System Documentation: Maintain accurate backups and version control of PLC programs, HMI applications, SCADA configurations, and other automation-related software.
• Instrumentation and Calibration: Oversee and perform the calibration of instrumentation, measuring equipment, gauges, and precision measuring equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
• Automation and Process Improvement: Lead automation and process optimization projects, from technical evaluation and planning through implementation, testing, commissioning, and performance monitoring.
• Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce manual intervention, minimize equipment downtime, improve process control, and enhance productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Maintenance Records and Reporting: Ensure accurate documentation and analysis of equipment maintenance, calibration activities, breakdowns, and other automation-related data.
• Inventory and Spare Parts Management: Maintain an updated inventory of automation equipment, PLC modules, HMIs, VFDs, and related components. Ensure critical spare parts are adequately stocked and available when needed.
• Team Supervision and Development: Assign tasks, manage work schedules, monitor team performance, establish KPIs, and provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to team members.
• Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, IT, and other departments to address operational concerns and support plant objectives.
• Quality, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), applicable ISO and food safety management standards, safety requirements, maintenance procedures, and established work instructions.
• Continuous Improvement: Promote knowledge-sharing, cross-training, standardization of maintenance practices, and other initiatives that improve team capability and operational continuity.
