Job summary

Supabase is seeking a platform engineer for the Compute Capacity team. You will own capacity planning, automate provisioning, and build metrics that reveal capacity drift before it impacts workloads.

You’ll work on reservation, fleet reconciliation, and cost‑efficient buffering across regions and instances. You’ll need 5+ years in infrastructure/SRE or related roles, strong IaC and observability skills (Pulumi/Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana, AWS EC2), and a track record of operating services at

Qualifications

• 5+ years across infrastructure engineering, SRE, platform, or capacity engineering.
• Experience owning and operating a service.
• Comfortable with IaC (Pulumi or Terraform) and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Help build and maintain capacity plans across regions and instance families.
• Model headroom targets and cost tradeoffs for review and sign-off.
• Automate capacity provisioning: reservation acquisition, top-up, fleet reconciliation.
• Extend infrastructure as code for capacity provisioning.
• Instrument capacity with metrics for saturation, coverage, idle buffer, forecast error, latency.
• Tune capacity alerts to surface issues months ahead.
• Support the demand gate for large commitments, launches, migrations, new regions.
• Contribute to mitigation projects: right-sizing, migrations, autoscaling, workload consolidation.
• Help reduce compute cost per database through right-sizing and placement.
• Participate in capacity incident response and post-incident follow-up.
