Job summary

Ford seeks an experienced Platform Engineer to design, build, and evolve our private cloud platform emphasizing OpenShift and Kubernetes, automation, and GitOps. You will develop automation, APIs, and Operators to improve developer experience and platform scalability across on‑premises and hybrid environments.

The ideal candidate has strong Go or Python development skills and a passion for automation, not manual operations, and will collaborate with architects and product teams to raise

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience in Platform/Cloud/SRE or Infra Automation.
• Hands-on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and Kubernetes experience.
• Experience deploying/upgrading/automating Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Strong OO programming and software engineering practices.
• Experience with GitOps and Argo CD.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (Tekton, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Hands-on API development and system integrations.
• IaC, YAML, and Ansible experience.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Develop infrastructure automation using Go, Python, Ansible and IaC practices.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes Operators, APIs, and self-service platform capabilities.
• Implement GitOps deployment workflows using Argo CD and Tekton.
• Develop integrations between OpenShift and enterprise platforms via APIs and automation frameworks.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and resilience through automated monitoring, alerting, and recovery mechanisms.
• Build observability solutions using Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
• Collaborate with architects, application teams, and platform stakeholders to enhance developer experience and platform adoption.
• Contribute to engineering standards, code quality, automation best practices, and technical mentoring.
