Job summary

AboitizPower is seeking an Plant Technician to help operate wind turbines and BOP systems safely and efficiently at on-site locations in the Philippines. You will perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance, assist in troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with EHS standards while supporting contractors during complex interventions.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in power plants or fresh graduates with a solid technical foundation, with familiarity in HV systems, SCADA, and PLCs;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Practitioner (e.g., Registered Electrical Engineer, RME) preferred but not mandatory.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Power Plant.
  • Fresh graduates with strong technical background may be considered.
  • Familiarity with high‑voltage systems, SCADA, PLCs desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbines, substations, and balance‑of‑plant equipment.
  • Read electrical diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals to troubleshoot faults.
  • Accompany contractors during troubleshooting, repairs, and specialized interventions.
  • Maintain service logs, checklists, and fault reports; support root‑cause analysis.

As Plant technician, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems. The role includes performing routine preventive and corrective maintenance, assisting in troubleshooting activities, and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. The Plant Technician may also accompany external contractors during troubleshooting, repairs, and specialized interventions on wind turbines.and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with Plant Engineer and Plant Supervisor to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Operations & Maintenance
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbines, substations, and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Perform inspections (mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic) in accordance with OEM and company standards.
  • Support troubleshooting of WTG faults and failures, including accompanying and assisting/shadowing OEM contractors.
  • Assist in blade inspections, oil changes, borescope checks, and component replacements.
  • Able to perform tasks that will require support.
Contractor Support & Coordination
  • Accompany contractors during troubleshooting, large corrective works, and specialized interventions (e.g., gearbox, generator, transformer replacement).
  • Ensure contractors comply with site safety rules, LOTO procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Provide local knowledge and operational support to expedite contractor work.
  • Document and report contractor activities and findings to the Plant Supervisor/Engineer.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow strict EHS protocols, including fall protection, confined space, electrical safety (per RA 7920), and rescue-at-height procedures.
  • Report near misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents promptly.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance checklists, and fault reports.
  • Support root cause analysis of turbine faults and recurring failures.
  • Provide technical feedback to improve O&M strategies.
To Succeed in this Role, we need someone who:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (mechanical/electrical).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with contractors and reporting to supervisors.
  • Physically fit to climb turbines, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Team player with safety-first mindset.
  • Not fear of heights.
Other Requirements
  • Willing to work in remote wind farm locations under shifting schedules.
  • A valid driver’s license is a plus.
  • Open to continuous training and certifications (EHS, HV switching, rescue).

  • Strong skills in Troubleshooting.
