Job summary

AboitizPower is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in the Hedcor Sibulan, Inc. unit to ensure the efficiency of mechanical components of the grid and support energy transformation initiatives.

You will work with the Operations & Maintenance Team to deliver results, drive reliability, and develop your skills in a purpose-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering.
• Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer.
• 3–5 years work experience in Rotating Machines; Hydraulic Power Unit, Bearing and Motors.
• At least 1 year of related experience in Mechanical Maintenance.
• Proficiency in data analytics (Power BI, Google Suites, AppScript).

Responsibilities

• Implements the Mechanical Maintenance Program to ensure efficient and uninterrupted plant operation.
• Conducts regular site inspections on structures and equipment to identify and address abnormalities.
• Leads and oversees Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring programs to identify early failure trends and improve reliability.
• Supervises mechanics in the conduct of mechanical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities.
• Ensures maintenance works on hydro facilities and civil structures are performed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
• Conducts and validates Root Cause Analysis (RCA) findings and ensures permanent corrective actions are implemented.
• Provides technical support for troubleshooting complex issues in turbines, pumps, cooling systems, and other mechanical systems.
• Regularly checks mechanical related SCADA trends to aid in the detection of issues on critical equipment.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of all of the mechanical components of the grid and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the Operations & Maintenance Team to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

EQUIPMENT INSPECTION AND MONITORING

• Implements the Mechanical Maintenance Program to ensure efficient and uninterrupted plant operation.
• Conducts regular site inspections on structures and equipment to identify and address abnormalities.
• Leads and oversees Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring programs to identify early failure trends and improve reliability.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS AND DOCUMENTATION

• Prepares and reviews Work Orders (Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Closure) to ensure proper documentation and task completion.
• Utilizes Data Analytics for Failure Detection and performance monitoring to optimize maintenance strategies.
• Develops and updates preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and asset management strategies based on equipment performance trends.
• Prepares maintenance reports, equipment histories, and performance summaries for management review.
• Conducts studies and submits recommendations for equipment life extension or performance optimization through Asset Management and Life Cycle Planning.
• Plans and supervises rehabilitation and installation of mechanical equipment, ensuring all works meet technical and quality standards.
• Leads Outage Planning and Optimization to minimize downtime and coordinate plant shutdowns effectively.
• Ensures that all rehabilitation and preventive maintenance projects are implemented within budget, schedule, and quality targets.
• Manages Preventive Maintenance Execution (Project Management) to ensure efficiency and compliance with operational requirements.
• Reviews and validates completion reports of rehabilitation and maintenance projects to ensure alignment with design and performance standards.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

• Manages and maintains inventory of spare parts, consumables, and critical mechanical components.
• Conducts Critical Spares Identification and Optimization to reduce downtime risk and ensure material readiness.
• Prepares and monitors job orders or contracts for outsourced maintenance works and ensures contractor performance compliance.
• Implements cost control measures on manpower, materials, and maintenance activities.
• Integrates spare parts management into Asset Life Cycle Planning to optimize procurement and utilization strategies.

COORDINATION AND COMPLIANCE

• Leads Safety Management initiatives and ensures full implementation of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and other mechanical safety procedures.
• Conducts toolbox meetings and risk assessments prior to maintenance and rehabilitation activities.
• Implements Risk Assessment Management, Problem Solving and Decision Making (PSDM), and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinates with Operations for maintenance scheduling, plant shutdowns, and resource allocation.
• Responds to ISO requirements and ensures compliance with Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control Determination (ORMP).
• Promotes innovation through INYOvation Projects to enhance plant reliability and maintenance efficiency.

OTHER RELATED TASKS

• Evaluates performance of subordinates on a periodic basis to determine performance level and areas for improvement.
• Complies with company policies and procedures, safety rules and practices.
• Conforms to the company’s Integrated Management Systems, policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Reports any Integrated Management System events/incidents or potential events or other risks to the organization.
• Protects information assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference by:
• Storing documents, forms, contracts, manuals, books and other documents to locked storage rooms/steel cabinets.
• Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all plant records necessary for operations.
• Performs any other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by immediate superior consistent with the purpose of this role.

What You Will Need:

• Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer
• At least 3 to 5 years work experience in Rotating Machines; Hydraulic Power Unit, Bearing and Motors.
• At least one (1) year of related experience in Mechanical Maintenance
• Technical / Functional Skills:
• Proficiency in data analytics (e.g. Power BI, Google Suites, AppScript, etc.)
