Responsibilities

• Perform corrective welding and repair works on plant equipment during shutdowns and as required.
• Prepare tools and permits, including hot work, lifting, and tagging, based on work orders.
• Perform fabrication and metal forming works.
• Perform mechanical preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Conduct daily checks of running machinery and rectify faults per procedures.
• Coordinate with supervisors and contractors on work orders.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Plant Mechanic (Welder) to support the maintenance of power plant equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, welding, steel fabrication, metal forming, equipment repair, and related mechanical works to keep plant equipment in safe and reliable working condition.

This role plays a critical role in ensuring the timely completion of maintenance activities and supporting the reliability, availability, and safe operation of power plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Works

• Perform corrective welding and repair works on plant equipment during planned and emergency shutdowns and as required
• Prepare tools and necessary work permits, including hot work, lifting, and tagging permits, based on work orders
• Perform fabrication and metal forming works
• Perform mechanical corrective maintenance on various plant equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to keep them in good working condition
• Communicate and coordinate work status per work order with supervisors
• Assist in coordinating contracted mechanical maintenance projects

Welding and Fabrication

• Use appropriate welding machines and equipment for assigned maintenance activities
• Perform shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten-arc welding, flux-cored arc welding, and other applicable welding processes
• Apply appropriate welding techniques in accordance with established safety operating procedures and standards
• Perform steel fabrication and metal-forming activities based on maintenance requirements

Plant Maintenance

• Use hand tools and basic power tools to perform routine maintenance on machines, equipment, and appurtenances
• Identify and collect the required tools and materials based on job requirements
• Conduct daily checks of running machinery and equipment and rectify faults following standard procedures
• Use inspection tools and methods to detect early signs of equipment failure
• Identify equipment failures through visual inspection and other applicable methods
• Recognize different plant equipment and materials and understand their basic functions
• Follow applicable maintenance codes, guidelines, standards, and procedures

Work Order Coordination and Reporting

• Execute assigned maintenance work orders according to approved requirements and schedules
• Communicate work progress and status updates to supervisors and relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate with peers and other departments regarding work assignments and work order status
• Coordinate with contractors during site visits and awarded work orders
• Provide updates on work status and target completion dates

Compliance and Safety

• Comply with environmental, safety, health, and regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Follow established procedures for identifying and managing ESH risks in the workplace
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Apply appropriate safety procedures when performing welding, fabrication, lifting, and mechanical maintenance activities
• Report non-compliance and safety-related concerns when identified
