What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
The Plant Finance Manager is the overall lead for the Finance and Accounting function at the Plant, responsible for ensuring sound financial management, compliance, and fiscal discipline across all operations. This role oversees accounting, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting processes to ensure alignment with corporate policies and strategic business goals. The Plant Finance Manager acts as a strategic business partner to the Operations Manager and Head Office Finance team - driving cost efficiency, transparency, and data-driven decision-making that sustain profitability and operational continuity.
What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
1. Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Cost Control
- Lead the annual budgeting process for both OPEX and CAPEX, ensuring alignment with plant targets and operational plans.
- Monitor actual expenditures against budget, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to manage costs.
- Evaluate financial implications of production and operational decisions to ensure resource optimization and cost efficiency.
- Ensure financial controls are embedded in all plant transactions to safeguard company assets.
2. Accounting and Reporting
- Oversee all accounting activities including general ledger, payables, receivables, and asset management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Review and approve journal entries, payment vouchers, and financial adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of plant financial statements, production cost reports, and statutory submissions.
- Consolidate monthly financial results for submission to Head Office, providing insights and variance analysis.
3. Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax, BOI, and other government reporting requirements.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment in line with audit standards and company policies.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring audit findings are promptly addressed and resolved.
- Drive adherence to SAP financial processes and ensure all postings and reconciliations are properly executed.
4. Business Partnership and Decision Support
- Serve as financial advisor to the Operations Manager and Department Heads, providing financial insights to guide operational decisions.
- Analyze profitability drivers, productivity metrics, and operational KPIs to support performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide financial guidance in project feasibility studies, process improvements, and major procurement decisions.
5. Leadership and People Development
- Supervise and develop the Accounting Supervisor and the broader Finance Team to build technical depth and leadership readiness.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement in financial operations.
- Build strong collaboration between Finance and Operations to ensure alignment of goals and shared ownership of results.
6. Asset and Scrap Management
- Oversee the control and monitoring of plant assets including tagging, utilization, and depreciation.
- Ensure compliance with asset disposal and scrap management procedures in accordance with company policies.
7. Other Functions
- Represent the Plant Finance function in cross-functional committees and management reviews.
- Support special projects, cost reviews, and financial planning initiatives assigned by the Head Office Finance Team or Managing Director.
What are the Qualifications?
Educational and Professional Background
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- At least 5-8 years of solid accounting and financial management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical Proficiency
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cost accounting, taxation, and SAP systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
Leadership and Business Acumen
- Proven leadership in managing accounting and finance teams in a manufacturing setup.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to influence decisions at the management level.
Ethics and Compliance
- Upholds the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial data.
- Deep understanding of corporate governance, audit, and regulatory frameworks.
