About the role
The Plant Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring electrical projects within the plant facility. The position ensures that electrical installation, modification, improvement, and maintenance projects are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, company standards, and applicable electrical codes. The role works closely with plant operations, maintenance, production, contractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the successful execution and completion of projects.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and manage electrical projects from conceptualization through completion and commissioning
- Prepare project scope, schedules, cost estimates, material requirements, and manpower requirements
- Develop project plans, work schedules, and implementation timelines
- Monitor project progress and ensure completion within approved cost, quality, and schedule requirements
- Design, review, and evaluate electrical systems and installations for plant projects
- Prepare or review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, specifications, and technical documents
- Supervise electrical installation works performed by contractors and service providers
- Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems
- Ensure all electrical projects comply with company safety policies, applicable electrical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare project cost estimates and monitor actual project expenditures
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
- Licensed Electrical Engineer is preferred/required depending on the nature of the position and applicable regulations
- Experience in plant engineering, industrial electrical systems, construction, project management, or facilities engineering
- Knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor control, industrial equipment, lighting, grounding, and protection systems
- Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, safety requirements, and industrial practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and preferably knowledgeable in AutoCAD or other engineering design software
- Experience in project planning, cost estimation, contractor supervision, and commissioning
- Willing to work in a plant/industrial environment and conduct site inspections
