Job summary

Care Center Clinic in Metro Manila is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to perform patient identification, venipuncture, labeling, and sample handling with care.

You will monitor patients during draws, prevent adverse reactions, maintain biosafety, and support LIS logging and inventory.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and compassionate patient service in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Identify and verify patient identity and requisitions before drawing blood.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws with minimal patient discomfort.
• Label, barcode, centrifuge, aliquot, and store specimens per chain-of-custody and biosafety protocols.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide post-draw care and reassurance.
• Dispose of needles and sharps safely and adhere to universal precautions and OSHA/local health standards.
• Log specimens into LIS, track supplies, and restock phlebotomy carts or stations.

Job description

Core Responsibilities

• Patient Identification & Verification: Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers, review test requisition orders, and confirm fasting or special preparation instructions before drawing blood.

• Venipuncture & Capillary Draws: Select appropriate veins, apply tourniquets, sanitize puncture sites, and skillfully draw blood using vacuum tubes, syringes, or butterfly needles with minimal patient discomfort.

• Sample Labeling & Handling: Properly label, barcode, centrifuge, aliquot, and store blood specimens according to strict chain-of-custody and laboratory biosafety protocols.

• Patient Care & Observation: Monitor patients for adverse reactions (such as fainting, hematomas, or dizziness), apply pressure/bandages post-draw, and reassure anxious or pediatric patients.

• Infection Control & Waste Disposal: Dispose of used needles and sharps safely in biohazard containers, sanitize phlebotomy chairs and trays, and adhere to universal precautions and OSHA/local health standards.

• Administrative & Inventory Duties: Log specimens into Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), track tube and needle supplies, and restock mobile phlebotomy carts or station drawers.
