The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist-in-Charge in all aspects of pharmacy operations, ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and process prescriptions: Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system, verify patient information, and prepare medications for dispensing.
- Dispense medications: Accurately count, measure, and label medications according to prescription instructions.
- Maintain inventory: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records of all medications, including ordering, receiving, and stocking.
- Provide customer service: Assist patients with questions regarding their medications, insurance coverage, and other pharmacy-related matters.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment: Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times.
- Assist with other duties as assigned: May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge, such as data entry, filing, and assisting with administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician program preferred.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including pharmacy software.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy boxes.
