Optum is seeking a Perimeter Security Analyst to manage security controls protecting client perimeters within a healthcare context. You will develop and enforce policies, govern firewall and related border protections, and coordinate with IT teams on risk assessments and incident response.
You will work to ensure HIPAA/HITRUST/NIST alignment, lead firewall reviews, and mentor colleagues while staying adaptable in a dynamic security environment.
As a Perimeter Security Analyst, you will be responsible for the daily administration, management, and maintenance of security technologies and processes that support Optum's perimeter security program. You will develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures to protect network perimeters and the sensitive data residing within client environments.
In this role, you will partner with business and technology teams to implement controls that ensure the protection, integrity, and accountability of proprietary, personal, and privileged information. You will serve as a key member of the Information Security team, responsible for firewall governance, perimeter security operations, firewall change reviews, and annual firewall security assessments within a healthcare environment.
The analyst will develop and maintain firewall governance standards, change management processes, risk-scoring methodologies, and compliance review programs aligned with HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST SP 800-53, and industry security best practices.
Develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures to secure and protect the client’s perimeter and all contained information assets
Manage and maintain perimeter security solutions to provide effective protection on border defenses, including Firewalls, VPN security, DMZ security, Proxy Services and remote access against internal and external threats
Perform restorative and responsive actions through advanced technical skills, triage, analysis, response and remediation for security incident issues
Work directly with user departments to implement procedures and systems for the protection, conservation, and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data
Provide subject matter expertise and direct collaboration with other IT security professionals
Ensure alignment of security policies/standards with IT infrastructure frameworks (e.g., ISO 2700x, NIST, ITIL)
Anticipate customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
Serve as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions

5+ years in an Information Security Operations teams
Advanced analytical skills to investigate, analyze and remediate common and complex infrastructure and end-user security incidents
Proficient knowledge of perimeter security and border protection technology, management, and monitoring tools such as Firewalls, VPN security, DMZ security, Proxy Services, IDS/IPS and remote access among other technologies
Demonstrated experience of Firewall reviews and tunning
Effective writing skills to provide clear and precise language suitable for the target audience
Experience with infrastructure implementations, management, and operations
Experience in dealing with external vendors and suppliers within the perimeter security industry
Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to identify industry standards and procedures for Incident, Problem, Change and Knowledge as required
Knowledge of data security/protection principles (e.g., data classification, data loss prevention, data in transit, data in process, data at rest)
Knowledge of authentication/authorization/access mechanisms (e.g., SSO, SAML, active directory, LDAP)
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt different working styles, and fast changing environments
Ability to engage as a thought leader with all levels of the organization stay clam under pressure and maintain the credibility of the clients in the perimeter security team
