The Payroll Accountant supports payroll accounting operations by performing month end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, payroll accruals, account reconciliations,
and financial reporting. The role is responsible for ensuring payroll-related transactions
are accurately recorded and reflected in the general ledger while maintaining
compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This position partners
closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and other business
stakeholders to support payroll accounting activities, improve processes, strengthen
controls, and drive operational efficiency.
JOB FOCUS:
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to payroll accounting
- Calculate, review, and record payroll-related accruals including wages, bonuses, benefits, severance, and retirement contributions
- Prepare and maintain amortization schedules for incentive programs, sign-on bonuses, and deferred compensation arrangements
- Perform payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules
- Support labor cost transfers, labor allocations, and special payroll accounting projects
- Analyze high-volume payroll and accounting data and translate findings into accounting entries and financial reports
- Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate payroll accounting and reporting
- Support accounting process improvements, internal controls, and operational efficiencies
- Provide guidance and support to team members on accounting-related activities
- Assist leadership with workload prioritization and completion of critical accounting deliverables
JOB QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of lead, senior, or supervisory experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with Oracle Fusion, Oracle ERP, SAP, or other large-scale accounting systems
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- General ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Payroll accounting knowledge and experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, data analysis, and reconciliation techniques
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, Oracle ERP, SAP, or other large-scale accounting systems
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Financial data analysis, reporting, and account reconciliation
- Experience maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedule
