Job summary

DXC Technology Philippines is hiring a senior Oracle DBA to support our Manila-based teams. The role focuses on Oracle RDBMS administration, upgrades, and performance tuning within UNIX/Linux environments. You will design schemas, back up data, recover databases, and assist developers with complex queries and tuning.

You will also implement security schemas, automate backups with scripts, and mentor junior DBAs as part of multi-disciplinary project teams across packaged and custom solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, migration to 19c+ and upgrades.
• Unix/Linux environment administration for Oracle databases.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for performance tuning and dev tasks.
• Experience with Oracle RMAN, RAC and ASM required.
• Strong teamwork and business requirements analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Migrate objects and code between nonproduction databases with developers/team.
• Design and build databases, schemas, stored procedures, and related objects.
• Set up backup/DR procedures and perform database recoveries.
• Assist developers and users with database usage, queries, and tuning.
• Develop OS scripts to automate backups, transfers, monitoring, etc.
• Ensure database connectivity from client apps and implement security schemas.
• Provide guidance to junior DBAs and participate in complex tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with developers and users to migrate objects and code between nonproduction databases.
• Design and build databases, schemas, stored procedures, and other database objects.
• Set up routine database backup procedures and disaster recovery procedures.
• Perform database recoveries.
• Assist developers and end-users with database usage, query development, and tuning.
• Develop operating system scripts to automate backups, data transfers, monitoring, etc.
• Support database connectivity from client applications.
• Design and implement database security schemas.
• Provides direction to less senior DBA’s.
• Assists associate and intermediate DBAs with complex database tasks.
• Position will involve the database portion of various projects ranging from the installation of new packaged applications to the development of custom databases for in house developed applications.
• Project teams will be composed of multi-disciplinary teams including business analysts, systems analysts, programmers, and client users.
• Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database administration.
• Have a good working experience in Oracle Core DBA Architecture, Backups/Recovery and Performance tuning exercise
• Experience in Coordinating and working with Clients to understand the business requirement and design the architecture, accordingly, resolve issues if any.

Qualifications:

• Must have extensive knowledge of Oracle RDBMS , migration and upgradation to 19c and higher versions.
• Must have extensive knowledge of administering Oracle databases in a UNIX or LINUX environment.
• UNIX/LINUX scripting knowledge is important.
• Thorough knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL will be add-on
• Knowledge of logical, physical, and data-warehouse modelling is desired.
• Must have strong team bonding skills
• Must have the ability to think logically and design applications
• Extensive experience performing RDBMS software installation, database creation, database sizing, establishment of backup and recovery procedures and scripts, database performance tuning.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Suitable experience will substitute.
• 5-6 years relevant work experience
• Must have experience with Oracle RMAN
• Must have experience with ORACLE RAC and ASM.
