Job summary

SGS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a data-focused laboratory professional to process data for food matrix analyses in a chemical lab. You will validate and report results to strict quality standards, performing calculations, QC checks, and LIMS entries to ensure timely delivery and compliance with ISO17025 and SGS standards.

Preference is given to candidates with a B.S. in Chemistry, experience with LC/GC, SEM, mass spectrometry, and software like MassHunter or Analyst.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry strongly preferred.
• A minimum of one year experience with chromatography instruments (LC or GC) required; SEM analysis and Mass spectrometry knowledge preferred.
• Lab testing experience with Food matrix is preferred; Environmental samples is an advantage.
• Chromatography and Mass Hunter/MultiQuant/Analyst software platforms knowledge is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to data quality and operational excellence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to identify minor discrepancies.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data processing for analysis of Food matrix samples in chemical lab, validate, calculate and report lab results to quality standards.

• Ensure lab deadlines are met and notify supervisor if turnaround times cannot be met.
• Ensure testing methods and QC procedures comply with ISO17025 and SGS lab standards where applicable.
• Keep Affiliate Manager and Lab Supervisors informed of operational issues and training needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the team in our Global Business Solutions (GBS) center, conducts data processing in the analysis of Food matrix samples in chemical lab. In particular, validates, calculates and reports lab results to strict quality and ethical standards.

• Performs various data processing functions, including laboratory data calculations and integrations, quality control checks, LIMS entries, and other data management functions as required.
• Ensures lab deadlines are met and the GBS Team Coordinator (or section Lab Manager in their absence) is notified immediately if the turnaround time specified cannot be met.
• Ensures all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to ISO17025 and assigned SGS lab standards where applicable.
• Keeps Affiliate Manager, GBS Supervisor and any other key Affiliate personnel informed immediately of all operational issues, including:
  • Personnel matters affecting performance
  • Failure to meet turnaround requirements
  • Failure to meet ISO17025, country certifications and assigned SGS lab standards where applicabl
  • Inconsistencies in quality control procedures so they may be rectified immediately
  • Additional training requirements identified

Qualifications
