Job summary

SGS is seeking a Non-Chemist/Chemist with background in HPLC, GC or SEM analysis to join our Data Validator team in Manila. The role focuses on data processing, validation and reporting of lab results for Food matrix samples, following ISO17025 and SGS procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc in Chemistry with at least one year of chromatography experience and familiarity with lab data systems. Hybrid onsite work may be required for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience with chromatography instruments (LC/GC) required; SEM knowledge preferred.
• Lab testing experience with Food matrix is preferred; Environmental samples a plus.
• Skills with Chromalion, MassHunter, MultiQuant, or Analyst software are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Data processing for analysis of Food matrix samples, validating and reporting results.
• Perform data processing, quality control checks, LIMS entries and data management tasks.
• Ensure ISO17025 and SGS lab standards are followed and deadlines are met.
• Notify Lab Manager or GBS Supervisor of issues affecting turnaround or quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the team in our Global Business Solutions (GBS) center, conducts data processing in the analysis of Food matrix samples in chemical lab. In particular, validates, calculates and reports lab results to strict quality and ethical standards.

• Performs various data processing functions, including laboratory data calculations and integrations, quality control checks, LIMS entries, and other data management functions as required.
• Ensures lab deadlines are met and the GBS Team Coordinator (or section Lab Manager in their absence) is notified immediately if the turnaround time specified cannot be met.
• Ensures all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to ISO17025 and assigned SGS lab standards where applicable.
• Keeps Affiliate Manager, GBS Supervisor and any other key Affiliate personnel informed immediately of all operational issues, including:
  • Personnel matters affecting performance
  • Failure to meet turnaround requirements
  • Failure to meet ISO17025, country certifications and assigned SGS lab standards where applicabl
  • Inconsistencies in quality control procedures so they may be rectified immediately
  • Additional training requirements identified

PROFILE AND SKILLS:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree, Chemistry is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of one-year working experience with chromatography instruments is required (LC or GC), SEM analysis,Mass spectrophotometry knowledge is preferred.
• Lab testing experience with Food matrix is preferred, with Environmental samples is an advantage.
• "Chromalion" and/or "MassHunter" and/or "MultiQuant" and/or "Analyst" software platforms knowledge is a plus.
