Job summary

Aboitiz Power Corporation in the Philippines seeks a Mechanical Technician responsible for the maintenance of turbines and associated components to ensure reliable plant operation. You will collaborate with OMD and support groups to deliver results and contribute to community impact.

Responsibilities include equipment inspection, preventive maintenance, testing, and documentation using CMMS and RRC sheets. At least 1 year in hydro turbine repair is required.

Qualifications

• At least a technical/vocational graduate required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in repair and maintenance of turbines in hydro power.
• Knowledge of PLC, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and SCADA preferred.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance of all turbines and their components. You will also handle other mechanical maintenance activities necessary for efficient plant operations, contributing directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with OMD personnel and OMD support groups to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

EQUIPMENT INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

Monitors the condition of turbines and their components to ensure efficient and reliable plant operation.

Inspects turbine parts, generator bearings, and other mechanical system components daily to detect early signs of wear, leaks, or abnormalities.

Performs immediate repair and troubleshooting of turbine and mechanical equipment

Implements Predictive and Preventive Maintenance activities following established schedules and procedures.

Supports Maintenance of Hydro Facilities and Civil Structures, ensuring mechanical systems such as gates, valves, and penstocks are operational and well maintained.

Conducts regular checks of hydraulic systems, cooling systems, and transformer tanks to identify leaks or irregularities.

Provides assistance during the testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS AND DOCUMENTATION

Fills out Replacement Repair Correction (RRC) Sheets and maintenance inspection forms after every repair or maintenance activity.

Records vibration, temperature, and lubrication readings to support Predictive Maintenance and trend analysis.

Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and assists in diagnosing mechanical faults to prevent recurrence.

Ensures proper Work Order Execution and Closure in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or other maintenance tracking tools.

Maintains accurate records of replaced parts, equipment adjustments, and service activities for maintenance traceability.

Assists in the installation, dismantling, alignment, and reassembly of turbine-generator sets and other mechanical systems during maintenance and rehabilitation.

Supports Preventive Maintenance Execution and rehabilitation works under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineer.

Ensures that tools, spare parts, and safety equipment are prepared and ready prior to any scheduled maintenance or outage.

Performs function checks and assists in testing and troubleshooting of mechanical systems after repair or rehabilitation.

Coordinates with the Maintenance Engineer during major shutdowns to ensure maintenance works are completed safely and efficiently.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Conducts inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables for mechanical maintenance and reports the status to the immediate superior.

Ensures availability of frequently used materials and informs supervisors of depleted or critical items.

Supports the implementation of Critical Spares Optimization by reporting frequently replaced or high-failure components.

COORDINATION AND REPORTING

Coordinates with the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer regarding abnormalities, repair needs, and maintenance schedules.

Records maintenance activities through the RRC Sheet and submits reports to immediate superior.

OTHER RELATED TASKS

Complies with company policies and procedures, safety rules and practices.

Conforms to the company’s Integrated Management Systems, policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.

Reports any Integrated Management System events/incidents or potential events or other risks to the organization.

Protects information assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference by:

Storing documents, forms, contracts, manuals, books and other documents to locked storage rooms/steel cabinets.

Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all plant records necessary for operations.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by immediate superior consistent with the purpose of this role.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience:

At least technical/ vocational graduate

At least one (1) year of experience in the repair and maintenance of turbines and other turbine parts in a hydro power or related industry.

Technical / Functional Skills:

Preferably with knowledge on Programmable Logic Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics
