Job summary

JFE Engineering Corp. Philippine Branch is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on a contract basis to maintain and optimise WTE facilities in Metro Manila.

The role requires hands-on mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating maintenance plans with operations and procurement. The ideal candidate will hold PME certification, have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, and be proficient in English and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) designation required.
• At least 2 years hands-on mechanical maintenance experience.
• Practical experience in welding and machining operations.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Reliable means of transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of WTE (Waste to Energy) facilities.
• Equipment patrols and inspections of incinerators.
• Plan, arrange and supervise scheduled/unscheduled maintenance.
• Coordinate with procurement for handovers and contracts.
• Deal with equipment trouble (in-house or via contractors).
• Promote environmental protection and safety compliance.
• Create annual mechanical maintenance plans and standards.
• Manage maintenance performance and process during maintenance periods.
• Witness commissioning of equipment after repairs.
• Develop work procedures and manuals and manage spare parts.

About the role

JFE Engineering Corp. Philippine Branch is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our mechanical systems and equipment. As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising mechanical systems across our facilities in Metro Manila. This position plays a critical role in supporting our environmental engineering operations and ensuring that all mechanical infrastructure meets the highest standards of efficiency and safety. This is a contract position based in Metro Manila.

Key responsibilities

• Maintenance of WTE (Waste to Energy).

• Equipment patrols and inspections of incinerators.

• Arrange and supervise of scheduled and unexpected maintainance operation. Inform to the persons concerned.

• Order and contract of scheduled and unexpected maintainance operation. (Operations up to handover to procurement).

• Deal with equipment trouble (in-house response or arranged with contractors).

• Promote environmental protection (e.g. prevention of dust and ash dispersion, drainage regulations).

• Implement safety patrols.

• Guidance on compliance (e.g. banning the removal of waste, incinerated materials and equipment).

• Create annual mechanical maintenance plans.

• Create and determine mechanical maintenance standards (update cycle, content of updates).

• Manage mechanical maintenance performance.

• Process management during scheduled maintenance periods.

• Witnessing the commissioning of equipment after repairs.

• Coordination and discussion of maintenance plans with receiving and operations departments.

• Develop work procedures and manuals.

• Manage mechanical spare parts.

• Manage an annual cost.

What we're looking for

• Required Qualifications

  • Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME).

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance operations.

  • Practical experience in:

    • Welding works.

    • Machining operations.

    • Machine maintenance, including disassembly and assembly.

    • Replacement of parts and consumables.

  • Intermediate‑level English communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Must have a reliable means of transportation (car or motorcycle).

Preferred Qualifications

• TESDA certification in Mechatronic Servicing.

• TESDA certification in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance management.

• At least 2 years of experience in subcontracting repair works and purchasing mechanical spare parts and materials.

• Experience working in industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, power plants, or Waste-to-Energy facilities is an advantage.
