As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components. What you’ll be doing
1. Before Purchase Order (BPO) Work
- Prepare and review Material Requisitions and Technical Specification Sheets for mechanical equipment
- Review vendor technical proposals and provide technical evaluations for mechanical equipment
- Participate in technical bid clarification meetings with vendors
2. After Purchase Order (APO)
- Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documents
- Manage technical communication with vendors to finalize equipment specifications
- Expedite vendor document submissions according to project schedule
- Prepare approval documents for client review and coordinate responses to client comments
- Compile and organize installation instructions and requirements for construction contractors
- Monitor manufacturing progress and testing activities coordinating with Procurement Team.
- Review and develop equipment maintenance manuals
- Review and develop equipment inspection procedures
- Attend factory acceptance tests as required
- Supervise equipment commissioning activities
3. Technical Communication & Client Interface
- Respond to and resolve technical queries from client
- Prepare technical clarification responses for client review comments
- Document technical decisions and maintain communication records
- Participate in client technical meetings and design reviews
- Prepare technical deviation requests when required
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure proper installation
- Monitor construction progress and quality control
4. Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Provide timely mechanical equipment information to Civil Engineering team, including:
- Equipment foundation requirements and loads
- Anchor bolt layouts and specifications
- Equipment access and maintenance space requirements
- Embedded plate locations and specifications
- Equipment installation sequence requirements
- Dynamic loads and vibration considerations
- Participate in regular coordination meetings with Civil Engineering team
- Review civil drawings to ensure mechanical equipment requirements are properly incorporated
- Coordinate with Civil Engineering team for equipment installation methodology
5. Report and Documentation
- Provide regular status reports to Engineering Manager on design progress, issues, and solutions
- Develop and maintain project schedules for mechanical design work
- Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies
- Report critical technical issues promptly with proposed solutions
- Document and communicate lessons learned
- Maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in wastewater treatment plant projects
- Experience in managing offshore equipment vendor
- Familiarity with EPC project execution
- Strong technical leadership
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Fluent business level of verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to effectively interact with others and work independently
- Familiarity with Microsoft office software
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical equipment design for industrial plants
- PRC License is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of international engineering standards
- Knowledge of Philippine Codes & Standards and Regulations
- Experience in coordination with Civil, Process, Piping and Electrical engineers
- Experience in offshore vendor technical evaluation and management
- Experience in team leadership and mentoring junior engineers
