Job Description

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing both quantity surveying functions and site supervision for mechanical works. The role includes preparing cost estimates, monitoring project budgets, supervising mechanical installations, and ensuring that works are completed according to project specifications, quality standards, and schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Quantity Surveying (QS) Functions:

• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates for mechanical works based on plans and specifications.
• Prepare bill of quantities (BOQ) and cost proposals.
• Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with the approved budget.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and prepare bid comparisons.
• Prepare and review progress billings, variation orders, and cost reports.
• Coordinate with procurement for materials required for mechanical installations.

Site Supervision Functions:

• Supervise and monitor mechanical installation works on-site to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other engineers on site.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure work quality and safety standards are followed.
• Monitor project progress and report any delays or issues to project management.
• Ensure that installations are completed according to mechanical design, codes, and project schedule.
• Prepare daily or weekly site progress reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferably a Licensed Mechanical Engineer.
• At least 1–3 years of experience in mechanical construction, QS, or site supervision.
• Knowledge of MEPFS systems is an advantage.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Excel, and cost estimation tools.
• Strong coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
