Job summary

FieldCore is seeking a Steam/Gas Mechanic to safely install, maintain and repair heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. You will work with Supervisors, EHS personnel and the Operations Department to meet our field objectives and align with FieldCore values.

Responsibilities include dismantling, assembly, alignment and testing of equipment, with potential overtime on holidays and weekends as required by field assignments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
  • Valid Driver’s License required for field service work.
  • Preferred: Degree/Associate Degree in technical field or gas turbine systems.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, assemble, move and align machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
  • Read blueprints, schematics and technical documents to determine proper work procedures.
  • Ship, receive and control tools, equipment and supplies for T&D and field operations.
  • Inspect materials and machines using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform machining and welding to manufacture parts for lab and shop training equipment.
  • Prepare parts lists for purchasing of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic devices.
  • Load, transport and unload materials and equipment as needed for field assignments.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Steam/Gas Mechanic is to safely accomplish the installation, maintenance and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. Turbine Mechanics work closely with Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Dismantle, assemble, move and align, machinery and equipment using: hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment and supplies
  • Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches
  • Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
  • Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
  • Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishments
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Preferred: Degree/Associate Degree in Technical Field or Gas Turbine Systems
Desired Characteristics
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble complex rotating equipment – Bolting, Hydraulic Bolting, Flange Management, Small Bore Piping, Basic Rigging/Lifting, O/H Crane Operator
  • Proficient in the following: mechanical/technical skills, oral communications skills, Critical Thinking
  • Manage time-sensitive tasks and maintain a schedule within operationally challenging environments.
  • Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
