Job summary

Business Process Outsourcing International, Inc. is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Welding Engineer to oversee welding operations on-site in a manufacturing environment.

You will drive process improvements, ensure welding quality, safety, and compliance with standards, and support production with technical expertise. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of welding engineering experience, strong knowledge of MIG/MAG, TIG, SMAW and related processes, and capable of cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years welding engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, SMAW) and codes.
  • Experience in welding process development, troubleshooting, quality control, and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of welding standards and codes such as AWS, ASME, ISO or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with WPS, PQR, welding inspection, welding defects, and qualification requirements.
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other industrial materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willing to work on-site within a manufacturing/production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, establish, and optimize welding processes and procedures for manufacturing and production.
  • Provide technical support to production teams regarding welding operations, equipment, materials, and processes.
  • Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and support Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) as required.
  • Evaluate welding processes and recommend improvements to enhance quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and production capacity.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects and production issues.
  • Monitor welding parameters and ensure processes are consistently within required specifications.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Design, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of welding machines, consumables, tools, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Conduct process trials, testing, and validation for new products, materials, and welding applications.
  • Analyze welding defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, incomplete fusion, and dimensional inconsistencies and recommend corrective measures.
  • Ensure welding activities comply with applicable industry standards, customer specifications, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and production transfer activities involving welding processes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, inspection criteria, and technical reports.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to welders, technicians, and production personnel.
  • Support internal and external audits related to welding processes and manufacturing quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor process performance and recommend actions to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and production costs.
  • Perform other engineering and manufacturing-related duties as assigned.

  • Experience in welding process development, troubleshooting, quality control, and process improvement.

  • Knowledge of welding standards and codes such as AWS, ASME, ISO, or equivalent standards is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with WPS, PQR, welding inspection, welding defects, and qualification requirements.

  • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other industrial materials is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
