Responsibilities
Leading client engagements and building trusted advisor relationships
- Overseeing all aspects of client projects to deliver high‑quality outputs that drive social impact.
- Providing strategic counsel and establishing themselves as experts and trusted advisors to senior leaders in governments, foundations, NGOs, and socially impactful businesses.
- Managing client expectations, navigating complex stakeholder dynamics, and maintaining strong relationships throughout project lifecycles.
Driving technical excellence across projects
- Facilitating user research and co‑design workshops with government officials and project counterparts to surface user requirements and define prototype scope.
- Managing the design and iterative development of a dashboard interface with an AI‑assisted query layer in close collaboration with external technical partners.
- Conducting structured testing cycles with end users and overseeing tool deployment across a defined set of government units.
- Developing a monitoring framework to track usage, uptake, and early outcomes throughout the pilot period.
Managing project execution and team coordination
- Overseeing project management systems, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure efficient execution.
- Ensuring quality control throughout all project phases from design through final delivery.
- Managing full project budgets, strategically allocating resources to maximize impact and efficiency, and anticipating budget risks early and offering solutions to stay on track.
- Managing project and office‑related safety and security risk management for team members.
- Adapting project plans in response to field realities, client needs, and emerging challenges.
Mentoring and developing junior staff
- Professionally developing Associates and Senior Associates by providing regular coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities aligned with individual development paths.
- Building high‑performing, cohesive teams that deliver exceptional results.
Contributing to organizational growth and development
- Contributing to client development and external communications by identifying opportunities, generating ideas, and leading concept note and proposal creation.
- Contributing to IDinsight's organizational evolution by refining methodologies, piloting new approaches, and improving internal systems.
- Engaging in knowledge sharing, internal training, and cross‑office collaboration.
Qualifications
Credentials
- Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in computer science, information systems, economics, or related quantitative/social science fields.
- 6‑10 years of progressive work experience in product management, computer science, consulting, or international development, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Strong product development expertise, with history of managing iterative design cycles, translating user requirements into technical specifications, and coordinating with developers and data scientists.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills, with experience navigating complex partnerships across government agencies, donor organizations, implementing partners, and senior leadership.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex technical findings into strategic recommendations for diverse audiences, including executive leadership, donors, and policymakers.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership as a proactive problem‑solver who anticipates obstacles, develops innovative solutions, and drives initiatives forward independently.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff, providing technical guidance and building analytical capacity within teams.
Additional preferred qualifications
- Fluency in the local language(s) of country placement and/or prior in‑country management experience.
- Track record of peer‑reviewed publications, policy influence, or thought leadership in international development.
- Experience managing budgets, grants, or donor relationships.

Nuts & bolts
Location
Manager positions will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia, with possible significant regional travel depending on project needs and organizational expansion.
Start date
Start dates will be mutually agreed upon, taking into account both candidate preferences and project timelines. This recruitment round is part of IDinsight’s efforts to build a pipeline of strong candidates, in anticipation of upcoming projects. While we do not have fixed start dates at this time, we expect opportunities to arise throughout the year. Candidates may be invited to join IDinsight as early as immediately or later in the year, depending on project timing and organizational needs. We welcome applications from individuals excited to contribute to our work and who have some flexibility around when they can start.
Work authorization
IDinsight is not able to sponsor work authorization for this role. Successful candidates will not require IDinsight to sponsor their work authorization in the office in which they'll be based.
