Job summary

PMI is seeking a Data Governance Manager to establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies. You will collaborate with data owners, analysts, and IT to drive governance initiatives, ensure data quality, and enable trusted datasets across the organization.

You will partner with Process Owners and Data Owners to implement cross-functional governance practices, policy compliance, and performance metrics while supporting Power BI datasets and analytics platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Management or related field.
• 5+ years in enterprise-wide data governance, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
• 3+ years in enterprise-scale data warehouse environments.
• Expert understanding of data governance concepts, lifecycle, and quality standards.
• Experience with data catalogs, metadata systems, and quality rule engines.
• Familiarity with DAMA, ISO/IEC 38500, NIST AI RMF and related frameworks.
• Strong collaboration with business, analytics and IT teams.
• Certification in data governance or data management.
• Hands-on experience implementing governance solutions and data quality rules.
• Proficiency with data visualization and governance tooling (Power BI focus).

Responsibilities

• Definition, implementation, and maintenance of data governance frameworks and standards, including Power BI dataset ownership.
• Design and operationalize data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
• Manage data quality rules, controls, and remediation monitoring.
• Metadata management, data cataloging, and business glossary enablement.
• Oversee data lifecycle management: classification, retention, and archival rules.
• Support regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements related to data usage and protection.
• Govern analytics platforms with focus on Power BI datasets, AI/ML use cases.
• Engage stakeholders across IT, business, legal, risk, and compliance teams.
• Create and maintain governance documentation, SOPs, and operating models.
• Operate BAU governance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Role overview:

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-wide data governance policies together with the Data Governance Senior Manager. This role provides direction over data governance frameworks, standards and processes to ensure trusted, reliable and secure data for the organization. You will partner up with Process Owners and Data Owners to ensure strategic alignment of governance initiatives and to drive implementation of cross-functional governance practices, policy compliance, and performance metrics. You will also work closely with Data Analysts, Product Managers, Data Engineering, Business teams, and external vendors to understand data needs and workflows, improve data stewardship practices, and increase the value and adoption of our datasets across the enterprise.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• You have a degree in Computer Science, Information Management or a related field.
• 5 + years of experience in enterprise-wide data governance, with at least 2 years in a manager or lead role.
• 3+ years of experience in enterprise scale data warehouse
• Expert-level understanding of data governance concepts, quality standards, and data lifecycle principles combined with working knowledge of tools such as data catalogs, metadata systems, and quality rule engines.
• Solid experience on ideation and implementation of data governance policies and stewardship models.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles (DAMA-DMBOK, ISO/IEC 38500, NIST AI RMF, NIST RDaaF, etc.).
• Ability to collaborate with business, analytics, and IT partners to solve problems and orchestrate data governance efforts.
• Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., DAMA, CDMP).
• Experience with data management tools.
• Familiarity on data governance of analytics platforms with a strong focus on Power BI datasets, semantic models, and shared data assets, AI, and machine learning use cases
• Solid project management skills
• Hands-on experience in implementing solutions, rules, and processes to improve data quality.
• Proficiency in data management tools and technologies such as Atlan and LeanIX.
• Experience with data visualization tools to monitor and report on data governance metrics.
• Good communication and partner management skills.
• Ability to lead and manage data governance projects.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
